Max Prop Antishock
Available for any saildrive
The function of an anti-shock system is to absorb the variation in kinetic energy that is generated with an impact (in a propeller when the gears are engaged or in the event of an accidental impact). We can define the “damping path” as the space available between the start of the impact and the final stop. The greater the damping path (in this case angle), the greater the anti-shock effect.
Almost of all the anti-shock systems currently available on the market consist of the insertion of simple hard rubber or plastic shims into the propeller, which allow a damping angle on average not exceeding one/two degrees.
The Max Prop® Antishock propeller is an Easy model propeller equipped with a patented elastic device in special steel which allows a damping angle greater than 25 degrees. Therefore, the Max Prop® Antishock propeller is the only one that allows a real shock-absorbing effect.

- Design with attention to every detail
- Minimum drag when sailing (Low Drag Propeller)
- The blades rotate mechanically maintaining the same thrust profile and, therefore, maximum efficiency, both in forward and reverse gear, with the least lateral movement of the vessel.
- It is delivered ready to be installed on the propeller shaft (already assembled, greased and with the pitches already set)
- Extreme ease of installation, even with the boat in the water

- Forward and reverse pitches are independent of each other
- Possibility of very fine and precise pitch regulation, with variations of 0.5 degrees. The variation is very simple and can also be done in the water.
- Reliability and unlimited life. It does not require any particular maintenance, over the years you only need to lubricate the propeller and replace the zinc anode.
- In case of modification of the motorization, the Max Prop® Easy model propeller allows the direction of rotation to be reversed, without having to replace the propeller
- Easy to remove from the propeller shaft, even after years of use
Max Prop ® propellers
Propeller ready to use
Max Prop ® propellers are delivered to the customer already assembled, greased, with the pitches set, ready to be used.
Installation on the propeller shaft is much safer and quicker than that of a fixed propeller, it takes a couple of minutes and can be done by anyone even directly in the water.

Frequently Asked Questions
Maintenance is minimal: it is limited to a simple grease top-up and replacing the sacrificial zinc anode, with no need to replace other components even after many years of use.
Standard catalog tapers are 1:10, 1:12, and 1:16.
Should you require a different taper for specific needs, Max Prop is at your complete disposal to evaluate feasibility and manufacture custom orders.
The key elements that define a propeller's performance are pitch and diameter. Compared to these, all other characteristics play a secondary role.
Between pitch and diameter, pitch is the most crucial element in determining performance:
- Modifying the diameter (even significantly) has a relatively minor impact on overall performance.
- Conversely, even a small variation in pitch—for the same diameter—produces quite noticeable effects.
The number of blades also plays a secondary role compared to diameter and pitch. The two main (albeit modest) influences of blade count are:
- Noise reduction: Under specific sailing conditions, a propeller with a higher number of blades (preferably an odd number) is generally quieter than the same propeller with fewer blades.
- Theoretical optimal diameter: Relative to an optimal three-blade propeller, the optimal diameter varies as follows:
Two-blade propeller: 3% larger diameter
Four-blade propeller: 2.5% smaller diameter
Five-blade propeller: 4% smaller diameter
To make a realistic comparison between different propellers, you must evaluate one specific requirement at a time. Every boat owner has different priorities—such as maximum cruising range (lowest fuel consumption per mile), top speed, maximum maneuvering efficiency, or overall cruising comfort.
To best meet each specific goal, a tailored pitch is required—making it essential to have a propeller that allows you to adjust the pitch.
